VIDEO: Prophet, Propagandist or Whistleblower? - Orwell's Troubling Ties to the Fabian Society
"Those in possession of absolute power can not only prophesy and make their prophecies come true, but they can also lie and make their lies come true." - Eric Hoffer, American philosopher (1902-1983)
Dear Reader,
In my latest video, we examine how George Orwell's 1984 was shaped by his ties to the Fabian Society, as well as the author's complex and often contradictory relationship with the group - questioning whether exposure to their socialist ideals merely informed his vision of our technocratic future, or whether his work was actually an attempt to bring this future into being.
As usual, links to less censorious sites, alongside the original article, are included below. I am currently working on a piece exploring how Jewish mysticism, through figures like Sigmund Freud and Alfred Adler, was injected into the heart of early psychology, and how such kabbalistic teachings continue to impact the field today. If that sounds like something which may be of interest to you, please consider sticking around for more.
