While it is now all but impossible to describe an act of Islamic terrorism on European soil as in any way “surprising,” the recent truck of peace attack at a Pride rally in Germany was without doubt one of the more predictable.
To a very great degree, the country’s immigrant-indulging legal system ensured it was practically inevitable.
Abdul Ballout, a Berlin-born twenty-one-year-old Lebanese man, first appeared on authorities’ radar back in 2019 when, as a teenager, he was arrested for, and ultimately convicted of, assault, robbery and extortion. He would come under further scrutiny five years later for sharing ISIS propaganda on Instagram—scrutiny that helped foil his initial attempt to join the Islamic State, trying to reach Mauritania via Turkey, but which failed to prevent his subsequent journey to Beirut, in pursuit of a route to Syria and eventually, the caliphate.
Following a brief imprisonment at the behest of a Lebanese military court, Ballout was returned to Germany, where he received a 22-month sentence for “preparing a serious act of violence endangering the state,” the leniency of which was justified on the grounds that his “amateurish planning” had been too incompetent to constitute a “concrete threat.” Remarkably, the judge accepted claims that the defendant had distanced himself from jihadist ideology despite evidence that he continued accessing extremist material throughout proceedings, but yet more unfathomable still was the six-month deferral he was granted, Ballout released on probation and into the ever-open arms of Germany’s “deradicalization” apparatus.
This proved every bit as successful as you’d expect, and on the evening of July twenty-fifth, the still thoroughly Islamified Abdul rented a white Citroën van and made for the Brandenburg Gate, where the Christopher Street Day Pride parade was winding down. After accelerating through the departing crowds and careening into a tree, Ballout, now with machete in hand, was left no option but to continue his rampage on foot—a 65-year-old Polish woman lying dead in his wake, alongside some twenty-nine wounded others.
Regardless of how foreseeable both this attack and its rainbow-bedazzled target may have been, the response from the German political establishment was, in its own way, even more formulaic. With the manhunt still ongoing, Chancellor Merz stood before an assembly of mourners outside Berlin’s Marienkirche, promising, as so many European leaders have before, to “defend the freedom, openness and liberal spirit of our lives and our society with everything we can,” vowing that the federal government would do all in its power to stamp out “this poison of terrorism.”
The Left Party were up in arms, although not, it should be said, over Ballout’s flagrant traffic violations. Instead, their indignation was reserved for what they portrayed as a rising tide of right-wing and anti-feminist hostility sweeping Germany, with both the Greens and SPD rebuking Merz’s Christian Democratic Union for “politicizing” the bloodshed visited upon a constituency they nominally represent. Tellingly, this constituency appeared in full agreement, a statement issued by the event organizers effectively equating conservatism and Islam as comparably sinister menaces, before immediately redirecting their condemnation onto the former, insisting, in what has become a ritualized refrain, that the attacks must not be “instrumentalized” against the vast majority of peace-loving Muslims.
Safe to say, such suicidal obfuscation is little short of incomprehensible to anyone outside of leftist orthodoxy. After all, however much conservatives and assorted right-wingers may abhor the LGBTQ-whatever-the-fuck-else agenda, their opposition was, until just a few outrage cycles ago, largely confined to protesting drag queen story hour or mocking celebrities who slapped pronouns on their Twitter bios. Granted, as the deranged (and often pedophilic) nature of the Pride movement becomes ever more apparent, the right’s longstanding just-keep-it-in-the-bedroom attitude is rapidly giving way to a recognition that far more assertive intervention may be required. Still, it remains undeniable, as illustrated by the 2022 shooting at an Oslo gay bar or the Pulse nightclub massacre in Orlando (not to mention the rather-less-than-tolerant treatment of homosexuals throughout the Muslim world), that even the most virulent western traditionalists simply cannot compete with Islam's rich and storied history of queer-bashing.
Leftists’ refusal to confront this reality is generally attributed to what has been dubbed “the progressive hierarchy of oppression.” In such a worldview, gays, alongside other more exotic flavors of degenerate, automatically outrank their heterosexual and “cis-gendered” counterparts, only to be in turn superseded by those wielding the yet more potent trump cards of race, citizenship status, and (non-Christian) religious identity—or in other words “brown people.” This is further compounded by the fact that, within most left-wing circles, sexual and gender nonconformity isn’t treated as its own political interest, but rather bundled together in an all-encompassing doctrine which spans everything from wealth redistribution to DEI hiring practices, from abortion, climate change and gun control, to criminal justice reform, Palestinian statehood and, perhaps most compulsory of all, immigration.
But ideology alone, no matter how self-defeating, would seem an insufficient explanation for LGBT’s commitment to this unholy alliance of opposites.
Indeed, upon closer inspection, it begins to look much more like panic.
Although the more hysterical corners of the Pride coalition may frantically decry a resurgence of so-called “homophobia,” what this amounts to is a perfectly natural reaction to its own ever-escalating excesses. For years, conservatives were dismissed as paranoid delusionists for warning of men in women’s bathrooms or “porn literacy” becoming part of the high school curriculum, and yet today, those fears have not only been realized, but far, far surpassed, with even the most middle-of-the-road wine moms now expressing concern over the contents of their children’s textbooks or their teacher’s pointedly androgynous new pixie cut.
Regrettably, such concerns have little outlet in Germany, where even the “far right” party, the AfD, is headed by Alice Weidel, a woman in a long-term lesbian relationship. Nevertheless, across Europe, and the West more broadly, the anti-LGBT backlash continues to grow.
In April 2025, Britain's Supreme Court ruled that the legal definition of “woman” does not extend to men who arbitrarily declare themselves such, a decision which followed the NHS's ban on puberty blockers for under-18s the previous year. Portugal, meanwhile, is currently advancing three bills that would go a long way toward recategorizing transgenderism as a psychological disorder as well as curtailing its proliferation in schools, with medical authorities across the Nordic region again prioritizing psychiatric treatment over kneejerk medical butchery. To the east, Georgia, Bulgaria, Slovakia and Hungary have all taken comprehensive measures to restrict the spread of this foreign, “pseudo-liberal ideology,” while in the United States, twenty-seven states now prohibit “gender-affirming” care for minors outright.
Admittedly, this rollback applies primarily to trans issues, yet one would be hard-pressed to argue that these are wholly distinct from gay rights campaigners’ original demands, scarcely more than a decade having passed between the legalization of same-sex marriage and the government-sanctioned sterilization of children. The breakneck pace of this “progress” (in conjunction with the horrors of third-world immigration) has been central to the ascent of populist-right parties across Europe and the Anglosphere—conservatives’ reclamation of institutional power rather than Muslims’ slaughter of Pride-goers, posing the gravest threat to LGBT’s once unassailable cultural and political dominance.
As such, it is they who have drawn the bulk of its ire. Of course, this readiness to sacrifice its own has long been a defining feature of the modern rainbow crusader, whether it be encouraging troubled teenagers to undergo irreversible surgeries, or in the lesbians told to make peace with sharing a locker room with predatory, chameleonic men. When it comes to Islamic immigration, however, this willful blindness is more self-immolating still, the LGBT movement—a movement which typically shrieks bloody murder at even the mildest affront—refusing to so much as identify its assailants for fear of legitimizing those who alerted them to the danger. In doing so, it has achieved a level of hypocrisy seldom seen even among leftists: a cause supposedly built on giving a voice to the voiceless and memorializing its martyrs, that enthusiastically adopts the rhetoric of resistance and “never again,” but which now finds itself browbeaten into silence, rationalizing away its dead, and waiting around submissively for the next unnamable attack.

The coalition of hard-left types and hard Islamics is a wonder to behold. The more mundane reverence the gay activists have for the Muslims you allude to is baffling. It is akin to Covid. Those who could not fight the pressure to conform got injected with an unknown substance. Almost impossible to imagine anyone could be coerced in this way given the high personal cost they were risking.
The gays and assorted fellow travellers must know at some level how hostile Muslims are to homosexuality. They are very honest about it after all. So what really explains this? Brainwashing is not enough. Something else must be at play.
I think it is a performance. We are so willing to go the distance to destroy that which we think is evil (the straight white West) that we will risk our lives to ally with others who share this goal. That's how serious we are.
I suspect it is something like this.
